AREA OF INTEREST

Inasmuch as a study area was not exactly defined, an area of interest was outlined according to conversations with PROFEPA personnel. The criteria used were the municipal division, considering the border between the municipalities of Petatlan, Tecpan de Galeana and Coyuca de Catalan in the state of Guerrero, as well as the location of 10 of 18 localities of interest for the work (see figure 1); said localities were those found through information generated by INEGI (National Institute of Statistics - Geography and Data Processing). The outlined area covers approximately 555 500 hectares.
