VEGETATION CHANGE ANALYSIS


The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission in the frame of the TREES (Tropical Ecosystem Environment Observation by Satellite) project, is monitoring deforestation and detecting conflict areas (Hot Spots) for recent deforestation in tropical zones.

CONABIO, under agreement with the Joint Research Centre Institute, carried out a vegetation change analysis in an area of interest for the TREES project within Mexico, using Landsat TM satellite imagery recorded in April, 1993 and 1998. This study focused on change detection mainly in forests and tropical forests.
