The mission of the National Institute of Biodiversity (INBio) is to promote a greater consciousness of the value of biodiversity, to achieve its conservation and improve the quality of life of the human being. To satisfy these objectives, INBio, through a group of expert taxonomists, performs the task of maintaining an inventory of its flora aimed at maintaining systemized, updated reference collections available to a broad community of users through its page and that of REMIB. Thus, the participation of INBio in REMIB is highly important since it enriches and extends information related to the flora and fauna of Mesoamerica.

The Collection of vascular plants of the Herbarium INBio consists of 160 068 records, corresponding to 327 families, 2 259 genera and 9 087 species.
