The Herpetology Collection of the Museum of Zoology is represented by species from the southern and central zone of Quintana Roo, including the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve; in addition to the Cancun-Tulum tourist corridor and the island of Cozumel in the northern zone of the State. It also has specimens from the state of Campeche including the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, the Hampolol Biological Station and Los Petenes Biosphere Reserve.

This Herpetology Collection has 366 specimens, pertaining to 25 families, 54 genera and 74 species of amphibians and reptiles, and pertains to the SNIB.
