GEOREFERENCING OF PLACES OF COLLECTIONS BIOLOGICAL
PROCEDURES MANUAL

The georeferencing of locations is  the allocation of geographic coordinates to the textual description of a site (Proctor, Blum, Chaplin, 2001; Wieczorek, 2001).

The georeferencing department of Conabio adopted the methodology established by Wieczorek (2001), which was developed within the project 'Mammal Networked Information System' (MaNIS) conducted by the Museum of vertebrates at the University of Berkeley. This methodology was reviewed in detail for the purpose of bringing proceedings, the  cartographic material and nomenclatural specific in order to integrated  processes systematized.
This methodology is described  in the document: Georeferencing of places of collections biological: procedures manual.
